Victor Oladipo has found a home in Indiana. Not many have put respect on Oladipo’s name, but it’s time to give him the consideration he’s deserved since he stepped foot in this league.
When it comes to NBA talent, people leave Victor Oladipo out of the conversation, but why? Oladipo has been on struggling teams and hasn’t gotten the exposure he deserves. Since being apart of the Indiana Pacers, he’s single-handedly turned the franchise around.
Oladipo is a crafty guard with athleticism that’s truly a gift. I love when guys attack the rim as I’ve mentioned in many of my articles this year, but there’s something about Oladipo that when he attacks the rim. He makes you remember it every time. If you don’t believe me just watch:
So far this season, Oladipo has branched out and really has been the focal point of the offense, averaging 7.3 points more than his previous season in Orlando Magic. According to Indystar, Pacers head coach Nate McMillan spoke about the young rising star “I guess Victor has bad days, but I never see them,” said McMillan. “We’ve been down in a lot of games this season, but you look at Victor in the huddle, and he’s always the same. That calmness has helped us, along with his play. And he’s just got an infectious personality.’
Oladipo is humble, cool, and collected which is rare in NBA players nowadays. In today’s NBA players love to have a voice, but you don’t find that with Oladipo. His personality carries to the court, and the atmosphere that McMillian talked about has helped Indiana immensely. He provides that role of a silent leader and lets his actions speak louder than his words.
When I think of Oladipo, I relate him to Kawhi Leonard because of his humble demeanor. Really think about that for a second. I never heard anyone talk badly about the Indiana star. It speaks to my point that quiet players slip under the radar. Oladipo is a silent killer and if you want to see a different side of the star, check out his music. He’s quite the R&B singer.
With Oladipo at the helm for Indiana, he’s made the guys around him able to contribute more on the floor. I mean let’s face it, I haven’t heard Thaddeus Young’s name since his days in Philly, so it’s nice to see a guy like that make a come back. The Pacers are in the postseason for the first time since the Paul George-David West era and with the 6’4″ athletic guard leading the way they can pose as one of the tougher seeds in the East.
The postseason will shed more light on what Oladipo is capable of, and you won’t want to miss it!
