On Friday night, the Philadelphia 76ers suffered their first home loss all season, falling to the Cavaliers 121-112. The Sixers had been so dominant at home that they hadn’t lost a regular season game at the Wells Fargo Center since March 13. So, what caused the Sixers to lose at home against one of the league’s worst team? One simple answer: The Kardashian Curse.
Ben Simmons’ girlfriend, Kendall Jenner, was in attendance, and it wasn’t hard to spot the effects of the curse. Not only did the Sixers fall apart in what should’ve been an easy win, but newly-acquired star Jimmy Butler left with an ankle sprain and a possible knee injury.
This is by no means the only time the Kardashians’ bad juju has had ill effects on athletes. In fact, they have a long history of ruining athletes. Let’s take a look at the (brief) history of the Kardashian curse.
A (Brief) History of the Kardashian Curse
First, Khloe Kardashian dated Lamar Odom, who went on have major health issues related to addiction. She also dated Tristan Thompson and caused the Cavaliers to lose the 2017 and 2018 NBA Finals. Kim dated Reggie Bush in the early 2000s and killed his football career. Kris Humphries, who married Kim for 72 days and became a joke of the NBA, suffered detriments to his already-mediocre NBA career. Finally, James Harden’s team faced adversity during his 2015 relationship with Khloe.
Now, Kendall has brought the curse upon Ben Simmons and the city of Philadelphia.
I get it, some of the “curse” is simply a coincidence. But it’s easy and convenient to blame our teams’ woes on the wealthy, beautiful Kardashians, who seemingly have everything going for them.
That being said, I do believe that the Sixers will be facing more misfortune while Kendall attends games. Not to brag, but I fist-bumped Kendall at Friday’s game while she was exiting the stadium (weird flex, but ok). Therefore, I’m hereby banning myself and Kendall Jenner from attending Philadelphia 76ers games/activities until the curse is broken. This will be hard, but I’m willing to sacrifice anything for the greater good. Trust the Process.
