Can you believe that we are already more than halfway through the NBA season? We are starting to really find out what teams are made of as we progress towards all-star weekend. I’ll be honest with you guys, I’m going to start experimenting with a few new things on the site. Traditionally, I’ve stuck to opinionated articles and rankings. Moving forward, will be experimenting with basketball news articles, including “NBA News Today”.

Here is the NBA News Today for January 27th, 2022.
Let’s start with the top NBA news, stories, and rumors before heading into the NBA scores and best performances of the night.
Top NBA news, stories, and rumors:
NBA report: Nets wont listen to trade offers for James Harden leading up to deadline, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Why would they? They have a legitimate shot at winning the championship this season. In the event that Harden really did want to play for the 76ers next season, it is probable that the Nets could still land Simmons or Harris in a sign & trade scenario.
NBA rumor: Boston Celtics active in trade talks, but not expected to field offers for Robert Williams.
This feels like deception to me. I understand that Williams has a reasonable contract and his teammates love him. However, at what point do the Celtics start figuring it out or make moves? Their entire roster cannot be untradeable.
Last night’s NBA scores and recap (1-26-2022):
Team Performance of the night: Cleveland Cavaliers beating the Milwaukee Bucks (115-99).
The Cavaliers are the surprising team of the year. They are currently ranked third in the eastern conference with a 30-19 record. Last night marked their third straight win in an impressive outing vs the reigning champions.
The trio of Allen, Mobley, and Garland are not just worthy of NBA News Today, but NBA news everyday.
Most fans are aware of that trio, but the more casual fans may not be aware of the Cavaliers’ elite bench. Last night, Kevin Love had 25 PTS & 9 REB and Cedi Osman had 23 PTS, 4 AST, & 3 REB.
The team had 27 points and and held Milwaukee to 28.1% from 3.
It’s too difficult to score in the paint vs the Cavaliers. You need to be able to shoot the deep ball. Credit to Gardland and company for making sure nothing was comfortable for Milwaukee.
Player performance of the night: Devin Booker
Devin Booker lit up the Utah Jazz with 43 PTS, 12 REB, & 4 AST in a 105-97 win on national television. Booker was an efficient 57.1 FG% and was virtually ungradable.
Other noteworthy performances around the NBA:
- LaMelo Ball was +45 last night with 29 PTS, 10 REB, & 13 AST in a 158-126 smackdown of the Indiana Pacers. Kelly Oubre Jr. also came through with 39 PTS, shooting 10/15 from 3.
- The Dallas Mavericks had 35 assists last night. Luka Doncic and Jalen Brunson combined for 26 of those.
- The Miami Heat are currently the no.1 team in the eastern conference.
- Nikola Jokic had 26 PTS, 10 REB, & 8 AST.
- Ja Morant had 41 PTS & 8 AST.
