Saturday night, I attended A$AP Mob’s Too Cozy Tour, and let’s just say, things got too cozy. After waiting in line for two and half hours, we finally got in and the word personal space got left at the door. After about an hour of constant shoving, swearing, and yelling, my brother and I decided to bail on trying to get up front and headed to the back. This was the best decision we made the whole night, and from there on, we were cozy.
The whole point of us going to the show early was to get up front and be as close as possible to the stage. However, unless you are front row or within a couple feet of the stage, don’t bother staying up close. It’s insane to me that so many people are willing to just stand as close to you as possible when there is nobody on stage. After having about 30 different people sweat on you, it got old waiting in a crowd that wouldn’t let you breathe.
After pushing through thousands of people, we made our way to the back and decided to hydrate or we might’ve passed out. A few glasses a water and a Sam’s IPA, I was ready to get going. I turn around to see my brother walking towards me with a big soda and an even larger popcorn. The kid was ready to see A$AP Mob in theaters near you let alone in concert. It turned out going to the back was the best plan of attack. We turned around to see the first two members perform, A$AP Ant and A$AP Twelvyy,on the back stage. Jake and I ended up right near the action after all and we both gained a new liking for A$AP Twelvyy.
Finally, after 3 hours of waiting, the whole mob came out and they were ready to go. Jake and I made our way up to the front slowly but surely until we found the paradise: the Mosh Pit. Right in the middle of the floor we saw bodies flying, people dancing, and smoke hovering above us. A$AP Rocky (the lead member for those who don’t know) was making sure the mosh pit stayed alive during the show and gave us two simple rules for the night. Rule number one was of course, f*ck the rules and rule number 2, f*ck racism. The simplest two rules that everyone in the place can get behind. The simple words Rocky said created a unity within the crowd (even though we were already united in a literal sense).
After raging for an hour listening to some classic A$AP Mob fire, we made our way out of the crowd and back to the car. I couldn’t have been any happier to be outside and not drenched in sweat. However, I wanted more than anything to go back inside and listen to more fire hits. However, colleges are lame and only let the performers go to 11.
If A$AP Mob is coming to a city near you or a city in driving distance, I highly recommend buying tickets for the A$AP Mob’s Too Cozy Tour. Unless you are one of those diehards who need to be front row or close to the stage, I suggest no showing up 3 hours early. Jake and I did just to get our personal spaces violated. I know it’s a concert and you have to expect it but I still would like to move my feet without having to step on another’s. Once the music starts, I don’t care about space. However if there’s no one on stage, just space out a bit! Plus, you can’t mosh pit up front so where’s the fun in that??
Thank you all for reading and Happy Music Monday!
