As you may or may not know, I wrote an article about how the Pacers were quietly performing like one of the best teams in the entire NBA. Also, just 24 hours after I wrote said article, Pacers’ franchise player Victor Oladipo suffered a ruptured quad tendon against the Toronto Raptors and will be out for the season.
Uncle Mike, seizing the moment, made a statement article calling me out for being cursed. What he failed to realize, is that now I’ll use my newfound powers to bring doom to the sports world. Here are my sports predictions/takes. By publishing them, the PerSources fans will be able to check whether my jinx of the Pacers was just a fluke, or if I, Mateo Caliz, am indeed cursed.
NFL
- The Patriots will win the Super Bowl against the Rams, and Tom Brady will go down as the G.O.A.T. in all of sports history.
- Julian Edelman will have an outstanding game, cementing his status as a postseason legend and making a case for the H.O.F.
- Le’Veon Bell will sign with the Jets, especially after Marlon Mack proved to the Colts that he can be a starting RB.
- Draft Gems: DeAndre Baker, CB, Georgia. Rob Rolle, DB, Villanova. Ryan Finley, QB, N.C State.
- Draft Busts: Rashan Gary, DE, Michigan. Daniel Jones, QB, Duke.
NBA
- Boston Celtics will have an incredible second half, ending the season as the top seed in the East.
- Kings will make the Playoffs.
- John Collins will have a breakout second half (Shoutout @jman_persources).
- Pacers will make the playoffs as the fifth-seed despite losing Oladipo.
- Lebron and the Lakers will exit in the first round, and so will James Harden and the Rockets.
- NBA Finals will be Golden State vs Boston.
- Kawhi won’t stay in Toronto.
- Marc Gasol will get dealt. Michael Conley will not.
- Otto Porter Jr. will go to the Nets.
- Harden will win MVP.
- Derrick Rose takes Sixth Man.
- Pascal Siakam wins MIP.
- Zion Williamson won’t be as good as everyone thinks he’ll be.
- LaMelo Ball will never be a solid NBA PG.
- RJ Barrett will be an NBA star.
- Ja Morant has bust written all over him.
Copa Libertadores
- Boca will not make it past the Round of 16.
- Internacional and Sao Paulo will be the best two Brazilian teams.
- The final will be Internacional vs River Plate.
- There will be no major scandals like last year, the tournament will be fairly clean.
- The best signing will be Giorgian de Arrascaeta.
- The worst signing will be Robert Rojas.
