I will be releasing a re-draft of the 2011 Draft class in three installments over the next three weeks. We’ll re-draft all the players in the first round. This particular draft was pretty talented. It’s not often you see almost a full 30 NBA caliber players.
30. Lavoy Allen — Chicago Bulls
29. Norris Cole — San Antonio Spurs
28. Kyle Singler — Chicago Bulls
27. Shelvin Mack — New Jersey Nets
26. E’twaun Moore — Dallas Mavericks
E’twaun Moore is having a solid 2017 campaign, which merits him this selection. The Mavericks could’ve used him this season, but Moore was somewhat of a late bloomer. The next four players are just based on my opinion of their talent level, and they are largely interchangeable.
25. Derrick Williams — Boston Celtics
Maybe Boston could’ve developed Williams better. Their culture has seemed extremely healthy over the past decade, and you never really know with players that had such high potential. Williams is worth a flier so late in the first.
24. Bojan Bogdanovic — Oklahoma City Thunder
Bojan Bogdanovic is a shooter off the bench that doesn’t provide much else. Lately, the Thunder have needed a go-to bench guy. Bojan was not in the NBA for a little while, though, so his impact would only really be felt with the more recent OKC squads (after Harden left).
23. Jon Leuer — Houston Rockets
This is where the draft becomes about snagging the best bench player. Jon Leuer is mostly known for his ludicrous four-year, $64 million contract with the Detroit Pistons, and that’s because he doesn’t do anything horribly or very well. The man just suits up and plays average ball.
22. Iman Shumpert — Denver Nuggets
Having traded Melo for Gallo and more, the Nuggets proclaimed they were in rebuild mode. Shumpert’s athleticism warrants this pick, as he’s shown some glimpses of good play.
21. Brandon Knight — Portland Trail Blazers
Knight is a solid scorer, even though he’s most known for the massive L’s he takes. A trio including Knight, a young Wesley Matthews, and LaMarcus Aldridge would be strong for Portland. Matthews would help cover up some of Knight’s defensive shortcomings.
That’s it for the first part of our 2011 NBA re-draft! Picks 11-20 coming out next Thursday! Agree or disagree, give me a shout! @PerSourcesSam
