We’re back. In Week 7, we made a serious recovery to be back at .500. Now, in Week 8, we hope to continue that to be closer to the .600 we hit during the 2018 season. It starts here. But, before we get into the 2019 NFL Week 8 Picks, let’s talk about a couple of the games from Week 7.
The Titans held off the Chargers 23-20. The final series of the game was one of the most confusing series I’ve seen in some time. Austin Ekeler looked like he scored on a catch-and-run, but he was ruled down at the one after an official review. Melvin Gordon got the next carry, and it was called a touchdown. Another review reversed that call. Gordon received the final hand-off, and from my view, looked like he was in. After a second without movement, assuming the play was over (either a TD or stopped short), Titans DL Jurell Casey stripped the ball free. The refs reviewed and said that Gordon clearly fumbled, and it was recovered by the Titans. I think the Titans got lucky with this one. So, did we.
New England defeated the Jets 33-0. Sam Darnold continued to make mistakes, throwing the ball up into double coverage or off his back foot. The “Boogeymen” defense flustered the young QB on their way to securing SIX turnovers.
THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL
We took the Minnesota Vikings (-17) against the Washington Redskins because of how poor the Redskins’ defense has been. Without Adam Thielen, I still expected Minnesota to score easily against the ‘Skins. That wasn’t the case. Their defense did their job against both Case Keenum and Dwayne Haskins, but the offense couldn’t capitalize. The Redskins covered and handed us our first loss of Week 8.
