Early in the season, the most important thing is to be above .500, as we learn. Again, there are new coaches, new gameplans, and new schemes to adjust to. By the time we get to the 2019 NFL Week 3 Picks, we should have a good understanding of where a lot of these teams rank.
New England continued their strong start, beating the Dolphins 43-0 and covering the 19-point spread. The Rams and Saints were set for an NFC Championship rematch that should’ve brought just as much entertainment as last year’s game. Instead, Drew Brees went down with a thumb injury that will cost him at least six weeks of service time. Los Angeles went on to win 27-9, covering the two-point spread. The most entertaining game of the week was the Sunday night matchup between the Falcons and Eagles. Carson Wentz put the Eagles in a position to win, but a long Julio Jones TD and a dropped pass from Nelson Agholor set the fate of Philly. On the road, they were favored by 1.5, but they were defeated 24-20.

Thursday Night Football
On Thursday, we witnessed the Tennessee Titans travel to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars’ defense was dominant against Tennessee’s offensive line. They brought down Marcus Mariota nine times and held Derrick Henry to a measly 2.6 yards per attempt. While it was the defense that was dominant, it was QB Gardner Minshew who was the most discussed. His eccentric personality and poise in an unfamiliar situation have made fans out of rivals. Minshew may have only thrown for 204 yards, but his legend is growing by the minute.
We took Titans (-2.5) traveling to Jacksonville. This pick was based on a number of factors including the strength of the Titans’ defense against an inexperienced QB. The Titans fumbled the first punt of the game, setting up Jacksonville for an easy TD. When I watched that moment, I knew we were in for a LONG night. Luckily for us, that brings us to .500. We will do our best not to dip below the mark. Let’s get into Week 3.
