The NBA has done a great job marketing their game over the last decade. They’re gaining on the NFL and may eventually pass it one day. Allowing teams to continue to add to their jerseys has made the NBA season just that much better. In the past week, we’ve been shown the newest “City Edition” jerseys for the year. Some are great. Some lacked substance. Others were just downright bad. Today, we’re here to talk about the top-5 NBA City Jerseys for the 2019-20 season.
You may know me as an NFL guy, but I’m a big jersey guy in general. Earlier this year, I wrote about which NFL throwback jerseys should make a comeback for the 100th season. Be sure to check that out if you’re interested in uniforms like I am.
5. Milwaukee Bucks “Cream City”
If you completely ignore the fact that this jersey just flat out says “Cream City” on the front, this is pretty cool. I actually love the subtle hint of blue and the cursive font on the front. It also goes well with the base color looking a little like “cream” or “eggshell” white.
4. Toronto Raptors “OVO”
Toronto is really going hard with this Drake thing. As one of the biggest Drake fans out there, I, for one, am so down to ride with it. The OVO gold and black/white combinations comes off so clean; whether it’s these jerseys or any of his OVO Jordans. It also helps that Fred VanVleet’s hair and beard look almost identical to the rapper himself.
3. Denver Nuggets “Rainbow Skyline”
The Nuggets are going back to the well with the “Rainbow Skyline” city jerseys. I think these ones are cleaner than the white version they wore last season. The skyline logo is obviously the best part, but this could get even better if they took the front number off. That could remove the little bit of clutter. However, I still think it looks great.
2. Memphis Grizzlies “Vancouver Retro”
The Vancouver Grizzlies throwback is the best retro jersey in the NBA. It may be the best in sports. Ja Morant is bringing in a new era of Grizzlies basketball, and to do it in these beauties is a real treat. I hope they actually switch back to this color scheme full time.
1. Miami Heat “ViceWave”
The Miami Heat’s “ViceWave” rounds out our 2019-20 top-5 NBA city jerseys. Nothing will ever beat the “Miami Vice” colorway for me. They can put it on literally anything, and I’ll love it. The Heat will likely continue to cycle through the main colors of blue, pink, black, and white forever on their “City” products. Last year, I bought the Dwyane Wade “Miami Vice” City Edition. This year, I may just have to grab a Tyler Herro.
