Headed into the midway point of the NFL season, I think we’ve learned a lot about most teams in the NFL. Some teams are starting to sell and some are starting to buy heading into next week’s deadline.
Detroit bought when they traded a fifth-round pick to the New York Giants for DT Damon Harrison. “Snacks” could help anchor a front-seven that hasn’t looked strong at all in Detroit.
The Raiders sold again, this time trading WR Amari Cooper to the Dallas Cowboys for a first round pick. There are two thoughts to this trade. The first is that the Raiders have now traded two of their most talented players and are left without much to compete with this season. The second thought is that they’ve acquired three first-round picks in the process that will help in the long run. Dallas clearly overpaid for Cooper who has struggled this year in Oakland, but they’re hoping a change of scenery can restore him to the player he was early in his young career.
This is the time when we really have a solid grasp on who these teams are and how they should perform.
Overall Record Entering Week 8: 48-52-6.
Thursday Night Football
The Dolphins and Texans met up on Thursday Night. These were two teams that once seemed promising, and now they’ve seemed to go in opposite directions. Brock Osweiler is leading the Dolphins, not something most Dolphins fans would’ve been happy about prior to the season. Deshaun Watson, on the other hand, is slowly starting to gain back that talent we saw at the beginning of last season.
Houston entered as 7.5-point favorites, and we hammered that Houston pick! I refuse to bet with Brock Osweiler. The Texans ended up bringing home a victory, 42-23. We’re so close to that .500-mark I can taste it. We can only go up from here!
