The dawn of a new season. It brings championship aspirations to 31 fanbases (sorry Bills fans). A new year means a fresh start for the teams that felt the crush of defeat. It also means a chance for the team that took home that coveted Lombardi trophy to defend it. Things change every year. One thing remains true. Week 1 of the NFL season is the hardest to predict.
For those of us glued to the screen, we’ve already seen so much football. While we’ve learned so much, it seems we’ve been left with more questions than answers. Nothing is for sure after the first week.
Did Jimmy G perform poorly because he was playing one of the toughest defenses in the NFL? Is Sam Darnold for real? Can we buy in on Fitz-magic? Are Big Ben and Matthew Stafford going to struggle this season? Has Deshaun Watson been found out, or is it all on his injury?
I guess we won’t know for a while.
What we do know are the results to the Week 1 picks, and I’d like to remind everyone just how crazy Week 1 can be. Who could’ve predicted all of the craziness we witnessed last Sunday and Monday? For sure, not I.
Last week we finished 6-9-1. Not awful, but still not great.
To begin Week 2 on Thursday Night Football, the Cincinnati Bengals hosted the Baltimore Ravens in an AFC North showdown. The Ravens were favored by 1.5 points. We took the Bengals (+1.5). AJ Green and his three receiving touchdowns helped us secure the first win of Week 2.
