A lot of players have been balling this season. We’re going to look at the stats of the possible contenders for the Sixth Man Award. In the end, I’m going to make my prediction based on many factors like situation and stats. I eliminated Isaiah Thomas from contention since he’s missing most of the season and his stats would be pure speculation.
Jordan Clarkson – CLE
The Cleveland Cavaliers look like they have a tanking mentality. They have some young players, and some of them have shown potential. Whenever JC gets off the bench, he brings energy to the court. He’s shooting 49%, which isn’t bad at all but could heavily improve with smarter shots. He isn’t passive enough and sometimes prefers taking a terrible shot over passing the ball. Clarkson has been averaging a career-high of 16.3 PPG and 2.1 APG.
Dennis Schroder – OKC
Oklahoma City Thunder got rid of Carmelo, and in return, got Schroder. The Atlanta Hawks got rid of him to clear space for Trae Young. Oklahoma got a much-needed player that can help PG and Westbrook off the bench. Schroder has been averaging 16.4 points, 5 assists, and 4.3 rebounds per game. He brings a spark off the bench and has helped OKC reach fourth in a tough West.
Derrick Rose – MIN
At the beginning of 2018, Rose was struggling to find a team. Ee even contemplated retirement. The Timberwolves grabbed him and have helped him revive his career. Early in the season, he had a 50-point game that broke the internet. With the early locker room struggles in Minnesota, Rose has helped the team win games. As of now, the Timberwolves are out of playoff contention. Rose has still been averaging an impressive 18.3 points and 4.3 assists.
Verdict
In my opinion, Derrick Rose will be the winner of the Sixth Man of the Year award. His story is really inspirational, and he has the stats to help his case. If the Timberwolves make the playoffs, it will make this prediction a certainty.
